Leadership

"It was Jesus who gave some to be apostles, some to be prophets, some to be evangelists, and some to be pastors and teachers, to prepare God's people for works of service, so that the body of Christ may be built up until we all reach unity in faith and in the knowledge of the Son of God and become mature, attaining to the whole measure of the fullness of Christ."

Ephesians 4:11-13

Jesus is our Leader

We often ask, "If Jesus was leading a church on Burwell Street, what would He do?"

In reality the only good church is a church that is led by Jesus. If it's not led by Him, then it becomes about size, money, knowledge, or cool-factor. When Jesus rose from the dead and returned to God the Father, He said He would send a counselor, the Holy Spirit, to remind us of His words and His ways. The number one job of church leadership is to lead like Jesus. To do this, church leadership listens to God in prayer and studies the scripture.

Jesus loved without fear. John 13:1.

Jesus spent time with those who felt farthest from God. Luke 19:10.

Jesus showed people the way to God. John 14:6.

Jesus laid down his life for the life of the world. John 3:16.

Refuge Elders

"Keep watch over yourselves and all the flock which the Holy Spirit has made you overseers.

Be shepherds of the church of God, which he bought with his own blood."
